Removable Braces

Removable Braces

Removable Retainers are used to move and straighten your teeth using gentle tipping. They can tip the crowns of your teeth but do not so much change the position of the roots.

They are used in combination with other orthodontic devices such as springs, screws and bite-planes to help with mild cases of cross bites, deep overbites and alignment of mild crowding.

Patients who suffer from crossbite often have a classic V shaped arch. A removable appliance is custom made to fit the shape of each patient’s mouth. Slowly, over months, it is expanded using the adjustment in the appliance. Finally, the arch becomes U shaped.

Invisalign Braces

Invisalign treatment consists of series of transparent removable plastic aligners worn over the teeth. They are almost invisible. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and it allows you to view your virtual treatment plan before even you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

It is not suitable for everyone which can be established at your initial consultation if this is the method best suited to give you a perfect smile. Normally each aligner is worn for approximately 7-10 days before moving on to the next aligner, as long as your teeth have moved into the correct position. They should only be removed when eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You’ll visit the practice about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Total treatment time varies depending on the complexity of the problem.

Functional Braces

Functional appliances are a popular type of reducing the projection of the front teeth in patients who are growing.
Functional appliances are removable braces that work on the upper and lower teeth at the same time. They work by posturing the lower jaw forward, the stretched musculature and soft tissues creating a force, which is transmitted to the dentition. In addition, the soft tissue envelope surrounding the teeth is changed. This results in tooth movement, establishment of a new occlusal relationship and improving the projection (protrusion) of upper teeth.
Functional appliances are believed to be most successful prior to or during the adolescent growth spurt. This typically occurs between the ages of 11 and 14 in boys and 10 to 13 in girls and  the treatment will not work if the appliance is not worn sufficiently well.
Functional appliances are worn on a full-time or near full-time basis. With the correct number of hours of wear you may find the improvement in the position of your teeth can be quite dramatic.
